The Tower Of Babel

A shroud of black covers earth’s table,

woven of pride and foolish fable.

Pride and confusion bear an old label,

shown in the Bible, The Tower of Babel.

Since his birth on earthen ball,

pride precedes man’s dearth and fall.

Be wise as God, the Serpent’s call;

Be high as God—build tower tall!

Lift up your face!

Demand your place!

Pride in power and feats embrace;

Laud heritage of birth, of nation, of race!

O foolish man, when will you learn?

Godly love is wisdom earned!

Why to pride and hatred turn?

These only cause the soul to burn!

Why hearken to the Devil's song,

to tread a path of black and wrong?

For Love’s compassion, do you long?

With God in Heaven you belong!

Any conviction founded on pride,

is one to quickly cast aside.

For pride is a sin one cannot hide,

and Hell the prison where the proud reside.

Beware of pride and worldly delusion;

Pride and lusts are Satan’s intrusion.

Here is the sum, the whole conclusion:

Spiritual death succeeds confusion!

Be not led by dripping emotion;

Turn from sin through simple devotion.

Give no ear to sundry notion;

Hear the plain Gospel around the ocean:

Believe in Jesus! Repent today!

Confess your faith, and do not sway!

All sin is forgiven when God you obey:

Be buried in baptism—it is His way!
