Are
you a Christian? Are you a faithful Christian? The best thing you can do for
your family is to become a Christian and serve Christ faithfully.
Does
your child have a Christian father? A Christian mother? Are you a Christian
husband? A Christian wife? The second most important decision any of us will
ever make is choosing our mate for life.
Are you
a Christian young person? Paul wrote, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord,
for this is right Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment
with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth"
(Ephesians 6:1-3). Young people, you can have a tremendous influence on your
family. Your example can cause other family members to become Christians and to
live faithfully to the Lord. Again, Paul wrote, "Let no one despise your youth,
but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in
faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).
Homes,
like individuals, crumble and fall if they are not built upon Christ! Jesus
said, "Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a
wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods
came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was
founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not
do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the
rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and
it fell. And great was its fall" (Matthew 7:24-27).
